Not Items on Anyone's Shopping List.

What do you feel when you stand in line to pay for your groceries? Impatience, fatigue, and perhaps frustration?  Maybe accomplished or grateful?

There are those who stand on the same line, with their own cart of needs, and experience crippling, damaging, painful sensations: Shame.  Fear.  Unworthiness. Exposure.  Humiliation.  

For the people who’ve fallen on hard times, lost a job, have an ill family member, or whose family’s needs have suddenly grown beyond their current income, salt poured on this open wound is the humility and disgrace they experience when credit is declined, an account is closed, and local and caring grocers need to insist that the food must stay and they must go.

In 2004, when Shamshon Krausz, the founder and administrator of Eizer Lamuzen, witnessed a little boy leaving a store empty-handed, his dignity left behind in shreds, he decided to change the way we give.

Eizer Lamuzen was created to enable individuals to be aided privately and discreetly.  Through a unique concept, consumers sign up to become members and have a small $5 fee added to their regular shopping bill.  This money is used exclusively to help other consumers of this store, who experience decreased debt and are provided with the ability to continue to purchase food, meat, fish, and other necessary grocery items.

Eizer Lamuzen staffs a respected Vaad of Rabbanim who acts as an advisory board and oversees the distribution of funds, setting policy for the organization.  Eizer Lamuzen currently services the communities of Williamsburg, Boro Park, Kiryas Yoel and Montreal Canada, with many plans for expansion and growth throughout the United States.  Eizer Lamuzen’s core mission is to help families who are experiencing current difficulties and help them regain their stability and security, while preserving their dignity. Our goal is to ensure that when those in need set out to purchases necessities, they leave shame behind and stand in line with pride.
